Getting Around

A Walkable Downtown

Downtown Louisville is very walkable and has a lot to offer to those who find themselves with a little extra time.

In a city famous for Bourbon, downtown Louisville is home to nine Bourbon distillery experiences. You can walk to any or all of them: Angel’s Envy, Bardstown Bourbon Co. Experience, Brough Brothers, Buzzard’s Roost Spirits, Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co., Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery, Old Forester Distillery and Rabbit Hole Distilling. There is also a brandy distillery called Copper & Kings that is worth a visit! The Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Welcome Center is located at the Frazier History Museum. Or check out The Urban Bourbon Experience for more bourbon experiences.

As you walk through downtown, you can choose from restaurants that offer just about every type of cuisine you may want. This surplus of sustenance may have contributed to Louisville being named one of the “South’s Best Food Cities” by Southern Living, one of “America’s Favorite Cities for Food” by Travel + Leisure and one of the “Top Local Food Scenes” by USA Today. From bourbon-infused to international flare – Louisville’s cuisine could best be described as “New Southern.”

There’s also Museum Row, Louisville’s Waterfront Park and local shops in the NuLu district, just east of downtown. Want more things to see and do? Click here to download a downtown walking map.
